  We stayed at P5161-5. I'd give this place 4.5 stars for location. While unit 5 is not a "walk out your front door and onto the beach" unit, it still was an amazing location. The place has 5 units with unit 1 being “on the beach” and the other units being behind and/or above unit 1. Unit 5 is in the back. Their private beach area is above the boulders so there are sturdy cement steps down to the beach. I used the provided beach toys to sift through the sand to remove the little rocks, shells, and pieces of charcoal so I could sit back and run my toes through the soft sand on their private beach area. The beach is similar to South Carlsbad State beach in that is has small river rock on it, but you can find areas where there's not as much and use that to play in the waves. the unit was very clean when we arrived except for some debri to the side of the refrigerator. Towels were provided and very much needed. We stayed with our two kids and a newborn. The kids loved it! Our issues were with maintenance of the unit. Loose hinges on the cabinet door caused the water heater door to swing open often and made it difficult to shut. Cabinets were very outdated, but functional and painted white multiple times. Bathroom sink plug not working; no plug for bathtub, 1 of 2 light bulbs in bathroom not working, loose shower knob causing issues with hot water which when I tightened with phillips screwdriver, it fixed the issue. A loose baluster on the deck created a hole a young child could fall through. The last bit of maintenance is the refrigerator. There is a small note on it asking us to not change the temperature settings that this will cause problems. It was set on the average setting and did not get really cold. Our food was fine for the 9 nights we stayed, but we would have liked to have a better fridge. A cheap “rental” fridge doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to replace. So all in all, the location is fantastic and we did have a great vacation. I loved how they said on our last day to just take out stuff and leave. We didn't have to worry about cleaning or doing dishes which kinda made up for the later check-in and earlier chk-out. It’s less than 2 miles to the pier and close to some of our favorite eateries (harbor fish café), however maintenance on the unit would have made a better stay. Hopefully they fix these issues so future renters have the 5 star experience!
